On April 23-26, 2018 in Kamakura, Japan, took place Aspen International Committee, a meeting of Aspen Institute Network, in which Julia Tychkivska, Executive Director of The Aspen Institute Kyiv, took part. During the event partners discussed important issues on development trends and also participated in a closed seminar "Values in Tension: West, East and the Future of Democracy", organized by The Aspen Institute and Aspen Institute Japan and moderated by Eliot Gerson, Aspen Institute Kyiv Board Trustee and Executive Vice President of the Aspen Institute.

Andrey Kulakov is a media manager and media expert. He works as a director for program activities in the public organization Internews Ukraine, where he is responsible for project implementation, strategic planning and fundraising. He planned and implemented local and international media and communication projects to order from EU Delegation, USAID, World Bank, UNICEF, OSCE and other. He represents the Ukrainian media community at various international venues, for example, on the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. As a consultant and trainer in strategic communications, advocacy and media literacy Andrey worked in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia. Yuliya Tychkivska, executive director of the Aspen Institute Kyiv, was selected by Forbes as top 30 under 30 in Europe in Law and Policy.
Yuliya Tychkivska is a co-founder of the Open University of Maidan that has emerged during the Revolution of Dignity on Maidan in 2013-2014s. Today, it is a public organization located in Kyiv with 22 regional departments. It creates and develops new formats of non-formal education and self-education that are available for everyone. OUM is a platform for new ideas sharing concerning future of our country, civil society formation, and development of civil competitions.
