Leadership seminars

“Responsible Leadership” Seminar

“Responsible Leadership” seminar is a flagship event of the Aspen Institute Kyiv. Started in 2008, the seminar allows exploration of the frameworks of fundamental values which lie behind our decision making. Drawing on excerpts from some of the best minds of past and present — authors from Plato and Aristotle to Martin Luther King and Vaclav Havel — seminar participants test their own and others’ beliefs in a challenging and enriching laboratory of ideas. Altogether 16 leadership seminars took place in Ukraine with around 370 participants involved. Two “Responsible Leadership” seminars will be organized in 2018.

“Values and Society” Seminar

With the establishment of the Aspen Institute Kyiv new seminars for emerging leaders were introduced to engage next generation of Ukrainian leaders into meaningful dialogue over the contested notions of human nature, liberty, property, equality, community, justice, and trends that frame our future developments. The Seminars also provides space and time to consider potential for cooperation on socially sound projects that might strengthen ideals of good society. Altogether 3 seminars took place in Ukraine with more than 70 participants involved. Two “Values and Society” seminars will be organized in 2018.

“Values and Leadership in 21 century” Seminar

Comprehensive transformations unfolding in the post-Soviet communities, change of generations, integration into global processes - these and other factors give rise to contradictions of a different nature (interethnic, corporate, interstate, etc.). At the same time, there are opportunities for new forms of cooperation thus strengthening the regional institutions. The overall dynamics of change imply the need for modern formats for dialogue of leaders. In this context, the creation and sustainable regional non-political dialogue platform for leaders of the post-Soviet communities will allow to identify and discuss the values of good society, to explore common positions on conflict situations, to find opportunities for horizontal interactions, and to foster culture of civility.

On October 15-21, 2016 an international leadership seminar was held in Odessa. Sixteen participants from Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, the Russian Federation and Ukraine came together to discuss the fundamental foundations of civilized development in the context of the contradictions of the post-Soviet space, as well as to study the values and principles that are important for today's leaders. In 2018, the next international regional seminar "Values and Leadership in the 21st Century" is planned.
